Meet Senator Suetterlein

Ashley and David Suetterlein live in Roanoke County with their four children. The two oldest attend local public schools – and the youngest is expected to graduate from local public schools in 2040.

David is a Realtor with the Roanoke Valley owned and operated MKB, REALTORS where he represents people in the purchase and sale of their homes. He graduated from Grove City College with high honors after graduating from Virginia public schools. Before he was elected to the Virginia Senate, David was Senator Ralph Smith’s legislative director.

Ashley is a registered nurse who has worked in the intensive care unit of a Southwest Virginia trauma center and a Roanoke Valley asthma and allergy office and as Preschool Teacher at Cave Spring Baptist Preschool. She played college volleyball at King College in Bristol after graduating from public schools in east Tennessee. Ashley is the Chair of the Roanoke County Republican Party and volunteers with the Blue Ridge Women’s Center.

David was elected to the Virginia Senate in 2015 and has established himself as a conservative leader who has help build successful bipartisan coalitions on tax relief, fair electric rates, and increased education opportunities. David has authored more than 50 bills that have passed into law with bipartisan support. David’s has received awards from the U.S. Department of Defense, the Virginia Chamber of Commerce, the Virginia Manufactures Association, and various healthcare groups for his legislative leadership. David’s successfully worked to keep Catawba Hospital open, to provide resources establishing the Fralin Biomedical Center and its work on brain research, the 2022 appropriation creating research laboratories in the Roanoke and New River Valleys, and the authorization for new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit opening in Salem this autumn.

The Suetterleins are Salem Red Sox season ticket holders and enthusiastic supporters of the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs, Virginia Tech ice hockey, and many local high school sports teams. David is on the Virginia High School League’s Executive Committee and the Explore Park Board. Ashley and David attend New Hope Christian Church in Garden City where they are involved in children ministries.
