David knows that the free enterprise system is the most productive supplier of human needs and economic justice. David has worked to make it easier to start and expand a business by supporting legislation that eases the regulatory burden on businesses. David supports Virginia’s Right to Work law that protects workers’ rights.

David is a fiscal conservative and has worked to successfully pass tax relief for working Virginia families. David was a leader in ending the regressive state grocery tax in 2022, in providing tax relief to more than 85% of taxpayers through enhancing the standard deduction, and reducing the tax burden on small independent businesses.

Ashley and David are public school parents and plan to have their own children enrolled in local public schools through June 2040. David has been a leader in emphasizing skill acquisition over standardized testing and increasing career and technical education. David has supported successful budget legislation increasing teacher pay and increasing the opportunity for English Learning students to find paid educational work experiences.

David listened to the needs of families and advocates of Virginians with intellectual disabilities and successfully worked over several years to expand fund flexibility to increase access to vital services and assistive technology. David is committed to helping Virginians with intellectual disabilities living more integrated lives close to family and is working to expand inclusive education opportunities.Description goes here

David is pro-life and has worked to encourage adoption and reduce unplanned pregnancies. David led the successful effort for authorizing the new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit that will open in Salem this autumn. David also led the successful effort to create a family leave benefit for Virginia state employees that adopt a child and supported legislation to increase contraceptive access. David was the deciding vote in the Senate Education and Health Committee against Governor Ralph Northam’s proposal to remove all limits on abortion and supports Governor Glenn Youngkin’s 15-weeks proposal.

David knows that Virginians should be able to live safely regardless of their neighborhood. David strongly supports law enforcement while standing up for Virginans' civil liberties. David supports restoring significant penalties for committing crimes with a firearm. David is proud to have the endorsement and good working relationships of several local law enforcement leaders.
